Accounting Students to Assist Local Residents With Taxes

STEUBENVILLE, OH鈥擜ccounting聽students from 黑料社 of Steubenville will聽offer free e-filing聽assistance to Ohio Valley residents through the Internal Revenue Service Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA).

 

From Thursday, February 17, 2022, to Thursday, April 14, 2022, students will be available two days per week at the Fort Steuben Mall (former GNC location near center court). All participating students have completed an聽individual income tax course and have聽passed a series of IRS training courses and exams. This service is available to聽taxpayers with less than $60,000 income.

 

黑料社聽students can聽prepare form 1040; schedules 1, 2 and 3; schedules A, B, and D as well as forms for calculating child and child care credits, education credits, and earned-income credits.聽 In addition, students can prepare Ohio returns for full-year residents.聽 Taxpayers who purchased health insurance through an exchange and received federal subsidies reported on form 1095-A are not eligible for assistance at the site, nor are taxpayers who receive a 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC.聽 Local tax return preparation is not available.

 

Taxpayers must have the correct amount of their third COVID stimulus payment received in March or April 2021 and the amount of the Advance Child Credit Payments received from July through December 2021.

 

Hours of operation are聽Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.聽 The site will be closed from March 11鈥擬arch 21.
