STEUBENVILLE, OHIO—The Center for Criminal Justice, Law, and Ethics at ������ of Steubenville will hold two continuing legal education courses for law professionals covering topics on law, ethics, virtue, and war and peace.

In “The Law of Armed Conflict, Genocide, and Other War Crimes,” Kevin Govern, professor of law at Ave Maria School of Law, will examine the ethical, legal, and moral implications of the law of armed conflict, giving attendees an invaluable perspective on historical and contemporary events in the United States, Ukraine, the Middle East, and around the world.

The course will be held Friday, September 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration is $149, or $99 for non-lawyers who are not earning CLE credit, and includes a light breakfast and lunch.

In “Aquinas: Virtue, the Natural Law, and Modern Problems,” Dr. Charles P. Nemeth, director of Franciscan’s Criminal Justice Program and author of several books on Thomas Aquinas, will discuss how law relates to virtue, what the ultimate aim of a law is, and how legal decisions can habituate citizenry in either virtue or vice.

The course will be held Friday, October 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration is $149, or $99 for non-lawyers who are not earning CLE credit, and includes a light breakfast and lunch.
