STEUBENVILLE, OH—������ of Steubenville’s Schola Cantorum Franciscana will perform a sacred music concert on Friday, April 26, at 7:00 p.m. at ������’s Christ the King Chapel. A second performance will be given on Friday, May 3, at 8:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Robinson Township, Pennsylvania.

The concert is titled “The God Bearer” and will feature a selection of sacred choral music framed through four seasonal hymns to the Blessed Virgin Mary: Alma Redemptoris Mater for Advent, Ave Regina Caelorum for Candlemas, Regina Caeli for Easter, and Salve Regina for Pentecost. It also will include works by 20th- and 21st-century composers including Sergei Rachmaninoff, Benjamin Britten, Maurice Duruflé, and more.

“Originally formed as a liturgical choir, the Schola Cantorum Franciscana has since expanded its mission to show to the Franciscan and local communities the beauty of religious and liturgical art for the greater glory of God,” said Dr. Vincent Rone, Schola Cantorum Franciscana director and adjunct professor of sacred music at ������. “We hope you will support this pursuit by your presence at ‘The God Bearer’ concert, as well as encourage others to attend and experience beautiful choral music.”

Both performances are free of charge and open to the public.
